This position is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and strategic development of the corporation’s regulatory required safety, quality, labor (MLC), and environmental management system, and related internal and external audit programs as well as oversight of safety-related systems that manage compliance-related activities. The scope of this role includes all company brands and vessels, as well as offices around the world. Responsible for managing audits of public health certification standards (CIP-M, CruiseSafe, etc.), as applicable, in close coordination with company’s public health and medical subject matter experts.

Manages the internal audit program and a team of internal auditors for the RCL fleet of 68 + vessels as required by the international regulations for safety (ISM) and security (ISPS) management systems as well as compliance with the voluntary standards of ISO 9001, 14001 and 50001. Sets future strategies for, develops, coordinates and administers the internal audit programs, protocols, and auditor assignments. Develops SSQE audit scope and procedures, planning and ensuring pre-audit, audit conduct and post-audit activities occur in a timely manner for both shipboard and shore side SSQE (Security, Safety, Quality & Environment) audits. Interfaces with internal stakeholders including shipboard and shoreside leadership and relevant Class Society representatives as needed to ensure the results of audits are properly addressed and the company maintains our document of compliance which allows us to continue operating our vessels.

Providing audit services to Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. and its subsidiaries and brands, ships, offices, and other facilities; In order to verify the effective implementation of the Company Safety, Quality and Environmental (SQM) system including the requirements of SOLAS; STCW ; MARPOL, ISM Code, various IMO regulations, the instruments of the International Labor Organization, MLC2006, ISO 50001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 Standards. Provides leadership guidance and training to new team members, and assists the Manager as needed.Conducts both shipboard and shoreside audits of RCL SQM / Safety, Quality, and Environmental programs within the prescribed time frame.

Serves as an Environmental Specialist reporting to the Master with responsibility for oversight and verification of company environmental policies, procedures and systems onboard each ship in addition to any applicable Flag State, Port State or local laws. Provide shipboard expertise to the shore side Marine Operations and Environment Departments to assist in the development of new environmental policies and procedures in the spirit of continual improvement.

Shadowed in the role of a Junior Officer, while performing the all tasks given to a United States Coast Guard Marine Safety Office in both prevention and response.
