Operations Support Middle EastVeolia Water Technologies Jul 2016 - PresentBwsip Basra-IraqHandpicked for an operational support role, site management focused, on the US$500m Basra Water Supply Improvement Project, working as Veolia representative on the largest water project in Iraq. This is a JV (Hitachi-OTV) in consortium with Arab Contractors. Facilitating communications between the Iraqi Government, Ministry of Municipality and Public Works is a key accountability. The scope of work features HO-JV, process design, electro-mechanical engineering, procurement, commissioning and start-up. Responsibility is held for leadership of 90 employees, communication, HSE compliance, QA/QC management and conduct/performance management.• Playing a key role in project delivery; managing logistics/material control teams, project reporting to Head Office, manpower planning, co-ordinating best use of resources and managing site meetings/activities.• Furthering the interests of Veolia/HO-JV as company representative at all senior meetings with client at ministerial level, co-ordination meetings and during liaison with JV/consortium partners, Board and Exec committee.• Successfully securing 4 time extensions (14, 8, 12 and 10 months) through expert negotiation with contract managers and planning team on client variation orders and extension of time terms. • Optimising relations with consortium partners, particularly in view of contractual relations, scope of work responsibilities and liabilities. • Streamlining operations, cutting costs and maximising efficiency whilst upholding quality, by identifying and pursuing opportunities for improvement. • Securing a strong pipeline of skilled and qualified personnel with the capabilities to drive the project forward and support Veolia’s business goals. • Creating a positive, safe and supportive working environment where innovators can achieve their career path goals.

The role demanded close collaboration with other departments (Engineering, Finance, Proposal and Legal).
