Scope: Engineering, procurement, and contracting of renewable energy project, generation and distribution of Energy.Representing the group vis-à-vis regulators and statutory bodies (Ministry of investment, Ministry of Electricity, Ministry of Industry, Municipalities).Participation to the review of the draft new Electricity law.Cooperation with various entities of the Ministry of Electricity (Egyptian Energy Regulator, Egyptian Renewable Energy Authority) in the review of energy legislation, drafting Third Party Agreement, participation to the drafting of the renewable energy policy, and RE schemes as a representative of the private sector to the working groups of the Regional Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE) in Egypt, an EU initiative.Assisting the Board in formulating the group strategy; Identifying and assessing various Sustainable Energy business opportunities in MENA region. Directing the operational functions (Quality, production, IT, Finance, Admin, and tendering).Main achievements: First generation license from renewable energy, first on-grid few-kW PV system, First few-kW CSP project, local production of solar water heaters.

Directing the Quality, compliance, and Business Development activities of the group.Participation to the formulation of the Group strategic plan, developing the annual operation plan; Identifying, and directing the new ventures of the group, resulting in 6 start-up JVs in the field of Energy Efficiency, wind energy, CDM, and agro.Engineering procurement and construction of the Group renewable energy projects.Activities included: negotiating with international partners; establishing the legal framework, liaison with regulatory and statutory entities, company setup, selection and capacity building of the staff, drafting of the first business plan, managing the Technology Transfer program, startup of operation, driving the operational entities of the new JV (Admin, Finance, Quality, HR, IT, and logistics), with P&L responsibility till hand-over to the newly recruited JV manager.For 1.5 years, in addition to assuming the functions of BD and compliance, deputizing the managing Director in managing the IT and HR functions of the Group.Assuring the compliance of the group procedures to prevailing rules, i.e.: Corporate Governance, CSR, Carbon emission reduction, occupational safety and ISO 9001/14001, as well as regulatory and statutory requirements.

Overall responsibility for the start-up of the local production facility of Smart Cards, entailing P & L responsibility, business planning, managing the Technology Transfer of local production; developing and managing the Production system (Quality assurance, production, inspection, logistics, IT, costing, occupational safety and security), selection, recruitment and capacity building of staff; Developing the physical Security procedures; liaison with regulatory and statutory bodies, and developing the first Business Plan.

Assuming the responsibility for the overall work plan, and annual operating plans for the unit; Startup of the National Plan for upgrading the Conformity Assessment infrastructure in Egypt; in cooperation with international twining partners. Programming and launching of the pilot projects (laboratories, standards, twining, etc.). Creation and management of the Stakeholder Committee, from the government, twining partners, and private sector, Managing the roll-out of the National Quality Plan.

Start-up of the branch in Egypt, including the selection, recruitment, and training of staff; • Preparation, and execution of the Business Plan for MENA area, including the pertinent activities (manning, finance, and marketing), achieving 30% market share of ISO certificates in 1998; • Participation to the Strategic plan of TÜV Group – MENA area; • Start-up of the field office in Amman - Jordan; • Animating the network of major consultants in Egypt, and Jordan including periodical updating workshops; • P& L responsibility for MENA region. Representing the group vis-à-vis regulators and statutory bodies.

Establishing the quality Management system, and pertinent policy manual, and operating procedures according to the requirement of ISO 9001:87, and Egyptian Quality Mark, maintenance, and upgrade of the management system till certification ISO 9001:94, and animating the Occupational safety, and environmental Committee, in line with the governmental requirements. Controlling cost of quality, and producing corporate Quality reports. (Scope: manufacturing of power distribution equipment).

Applying Defense Standards for testing in Technology Transfer, Prototyping, facility layout, work-study, product performance feedback, logistic support installation and commissioning of test equipment, for the Land Navigation Systems, and various Engineering products.
