Dr. Amr Shaat is a Professor of Steel Structures and Bridges at Ain Shams University, where his academic career focuses on steel structure analysis and bridge design, with a special emphasis on tubular steel structures. He also has expertise in the rehabilitation of steel structures using advanced composite materials.Dr. Shaat served as the Deputy Minister of Transport for Egypt from 2017 to 2019. He earned his B.Sc. from Ain Shams University in 1995 and completed his Ph.D. at Queen’s University in Canada in 2007.Throughout his career, Dr. Shaat has published over 55 research articles in leading international journals and conferences. He has also supervised 23 Ph.D. and M.Sc. students. His research impact is reflected in his H-index of 16 on Google Scholar and 11 on Scopus. Additionally, he has been invited to deliver more than 25 keynote lectures at various conferences and seminars.Dr. Shaat plays a key role in the development of the Egyptian Code of Practices for Steel Structures and the Rehabilitation of Structures using Composite Materials. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Ain Shams Engineering Journal (ASEJ) and serves as a reviewer for numerous international journals.In addition to his academic and research contributions, Dr. Shaat has extensive consulting experience. He has been involved in the design and review of several prominent projects, including the Haramain High-Speed Railway Stations in Saudi Arabia, Dakar Airport in Senegal, the World Trade Center in Dubai, and pedestrian bridges for expressways in Nigeria, among others.
