As part of the DSTL (UK MOD) Platform Systems Graduate Scheme, I sought out a 6-month placement opportunity with the Queen Elizabeth Aircraft Carrier (QEC) Warship Technical Authority (WTA) team.• Acted as the Assistant Engineer to the Whole Ship Safety Manager and the Class Lead Engineer on matters relating to the in-service support of the QEC super carrier. In particular, for ensuring the ship was safe to operate in and regulatory compliance was being met between BAE Systems and the MOD authority.

This includes, but is not limited to, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, piston and rod systems, valve systems (including sub-sea applications) and many many more.I worked as an Applications Engineer in a team unit within the Mechanical/Industrial department. I was responsible for facilitating the technical needs of Trelleborg's customers who ranged from small to large businesses that span the whole of the UK. The aim was to always provide the best solutions, guidance, advice and recommendations to a range of problems or issues customers may have had regarding the sealing of systems and the integration of Trelleborg's products into theirs.• Involved in application engineering, serving as a technical interface between Trelleborg and its customers.• Responsible for facilitating the technical needs of Trelleborg's customers across a variety of engineering disciplines, including but not limited to hydraulic and pneumatics, piston, rod and valve (including sub-sea applications) systems and many more.• Provided the best solutions, guidance, advice and recommendations to a range of problems across multiple engineering fields regarding the integration of seals for hydraulic and pneumatic systems.• Made bespoke recommendations and solutions to facilitate customers’ needs regarding a range of problems related to sealing of systems and the integration of Trelleborg’s products into theirs.

• Analysed Bills of Materials, Full Material Declarations, Engineering Drawings, and Safety Data Sheets and compiled large data/information into user-friendly, easily identifiable formats.• Ensured the documents listed above were within RoHS and REACH compliant directives and regulations for approval.• Contacted suppliers in the case of documents having missing data/information and to obtain updated RoHS and REACH certificates
