Postdoctoral Researcher

Current

Seoul, South Korea

I joined the artificial intelligence and robotics lab (AIRLab) at Korea Institute of Science and Technology in December of 2023 as a Post-doctoral researcher working under the supervision of Dr. Jongwon Lee. My work here currently involves design of validation and evaluation experiments for the works being done in this lab, especially those related to our in-house developed 4 DOF hip complex assistance exoskeleton robot. I am also responsible for providing hands-on technical and research guidance to the students and researchers working in the lab, and for planning out the research milestones that can be achieved while working within the framework of our various projects. Lastly, it is my responsibility to improve the impact of our work by generating publications based on our research outcomes.

Dec 2022 - Present

Postdoctoral Researcher

Gwangju Metropolitan Area, South Korea

After completion of my Ph. D., I joined the Intelligent Medical Robotics Lab at Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology as a Post-doctoral researcher under the supervision of Prof. Jungwon Yoon. In this role, my work involved the development of a new haptic feedback system, conducting user studies at Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology and Gyeongsang National University Hospital involving various rehabilitation systems and the continuation of work that I did during my Ph. D. I was also involved in proposal writing for new projects. My major works during this time included the following:▪ Development of a novel 2DOF haptic device for neck interface.:This novel wearable haptic feedback system delivers 2 degrees of freedom (DOF) directed hybrid haptic feedback of trunk tilts to the neck of the user. The feedback provided is aligned with the medio-lateral and antero-posterior axes of the body. The use of this system is expected to help improve gait balance of stroke survivors. This work was supported by the GTI grant of the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology.▪ User studies related to Trunk rehabilitation robot:This was a continuation of the thesis work that I did during my PhD. The aim of these studies was to evaluate the effects of the various features of the trunk rehabilitation robot on the balance and physiological measures of different users. This work also involved use of the trunk rehabilitation robot with various feedback modalities.▪ User studies related to various rehabilitation systems:This work included healthy and stroke subject user studies involving various rehabilitation systems, such as vibrotactile bracelets, haptic cane and companion robot for haptic interface.
