Partner Engineer & Relations Manager, Games And Entertainment
This role is the first of its kind and sits within the Games & Entertainment PRM & PE teams as a Partner Engineer & Relations Manager.Using my technical skills, bilingual Arabic abilities and my passion and deep knowledge of emerging markets, I will be responsible to help grow Unity awareness and presence in the MEA region.I am also responsible for working as a research beacon for the partner engineering and partner relations management teams, diving deeply into topics and supporting the technical growth for both teams globally.
Partner Relations Manager, Industry
Trained and onboarded in partner relationship management. Worked with Unity clients in the industrial (non games) sector to help solve their problems, as well as upskilling Unity users both internally and externally.
Software Engineer, Quality
As a Software Engineer for the Release team, my primary focus is helping to improve the quality of the Unity engine and ship multiple releases/versions of it. The releases and products I was accountable for include:- The manual and automated testing of both the core C++ pull requests of the Unity engine and C# for areas such as analytics, the rendering pipelines, Data-Oriented Tech Stack (DOTS), UI Toolkit, the Burst compiler and much more. - Programming and creating internal-only C# prototype dogfooding games and simulation projects in the Unity editor and runtime to validate and refine our products. - I also developed tools with Blazor, C#, SQL, and the Shiproom Report with Google BigQuery and Looker Studio to highlight relevant metrics for Unity’s engine quality. This demonstrated to stakeholders internally whether the engine was improving or regressing. - Furthermore, I engaged in contracts with Unity’s customers, such as Volvo and Ferrari, to help them review the performance of their product simulators and further develop relations with Unity accordingly.I am a prominent advocate for Unity’s strategy in the MENA region. For example:- I have led the effort with data-driven research and analytics to push Unity to improve support for localising right-to-left text in the editor and runtime. - I recently took part in delivering a presentation at a Unity Enterprise Developer conference in Abu Dhabi with a partnership with AD Gaming titled "Achieving high fidelity graphics on a budget".At this conference, I talked about operating within the constraints of a hardware performance budget by making solid software architectural decisions at the start of development. This is critical, especially when aiming to ship games and other products within the performance constraints of various platforms such as mobile, PC, consoles, and other NDA platforms.
Student Ambassador
As student ambassadors, we were responsible for attending the open days, and answering any of the queries that they had about computer science. The guidance given ranged from technical queries specific to the course to queries about my experiences as a year in industry participant. As student ambassadors, our job was to give an honest and fair representation of the University.
Release Engineering Intern
The Release Engineering Group is a team of developers, Quality Assurance & Release Management. The main mission of this group is to ship reliable, performant & maintainable releases of the Unity Engine.During this internship, I had the option to rotate between two teams. I worked primarily with the Sustained Engineering and Release Management teams respectively. I also spent some time with the Sustained Engineering Infrastructure Improvement team. This allowed me to put what I learned from University into practice.Responsibilities- Building tools to improve the efficiency of tasks done within the teams.- Developing and supporting the tracking KPI's and metrics related to releases.- Manual and automated testing on Unity versions and finding issues to feedback data to development teams.- Liaising with multiple teams to gain information to support the work completed in the release team.- Reviewing and critiquing release notes and documentation.- Actively monitoring boards and forums for user issues.- Proactively researching the industry and providing feedback to product teams.
Till Operator
At KCOM stadium, my duties consisted of serving hot food and drinks to customers and managing the payments via the till. After the football or rugby match was over, another one of my roles would be helping in cleaning and shutting down the store and preparing it for use for the next match.
Alumni Relations Executive
As a student, my primary tasks involved calling graduates of the University of Hull to update the University's database records; and asking the alumni to donate to the annual telephone fundraising appeal. These appeals include fundraising for women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) with the end goal to empower women to pursue careers in STEM. The other appeal was to generate funding for the mental health and well-being team at the University of Hull. In total, we raised ~£89,000 in the 2-month campaign.
Camp Counselor
As a camp counsellor, it was my duty to provide experiences to under-represented youth in a fun and supportive community. This involved providing participants with the experiences and resources to help them discover self-confidence, graduate from high school and become members of the next generation of young leaders. The camp's activities included sports, arts, boating, swimming, music & theatre, backpacking, camping, leadership and much more.
Door To Door Fundraiser
At Smile Fundraising, we as independent fundraisers were responsible for door to door fundraising activities with a focus on the northeast. We ran physical campaigns to generate funding for NEAS (North East Autism Society), AgeUK, and the BHF (British Heart Foundation). This was a job for the summer holiday before I started sixth form further education. It improved my confidence, taught me how to pitch in a clear and concise manner, and it allowed to me stay determined and focused even when faced with an overwhelming amount of rejection.
Programming Work Experience
At Wolf Group, I was introduced to C# and I began working on mini-projects that the company set up for me. I was introduced to Wolf Group by my high school (St Cuthberts) and all of the work was voluntary and unpaid because my main motivation for doing it was to try and get an insight into the software industry and see if it was the career path I wanted to pursue. More information can be found about the company in the link below.
Sales Advisor
My role required me to package mobile smartphone cases in the stockroom and advise customers about which product would suit their needs. This job aided me in my problem-solving skills as it regularly required me to think on my feet in a very fast-paced environment. I achieved the employee of the month due to a work Rota that I created on Microsoft Excel and established across the company.
