My career up to this point has covered a lot of different fields. I graduated in IT and worked as a database administrator, but then went straight into English teaching following a desire to see more of the world. Being fascinated with language, I obtained an MA in Applied Linguistics, and learned about how languages are used and learned, and from this got involved in technical writing, analysing every little detail. I'm currently working as a part-time teacher at Gymnázium Jaroslava Heyrovského, preparing final-year students for examinations. The job is less about language teaching, but more about the subjects of the final year exam (history, geography, politics, literature, etc). The job also involves a lot of essay checking and helping with university applications abroad. Another school I worked at focused on preparing prospective University students for the English entrance exams for the major universities in the Czech Republic (such as 'Prague University of Economics' and 'the Czech University of Life Sciences'). These exams involved a very deep analysis of grammatical functions, and having to explain them in a digestible way. I also work as a content writer for many of my private students, helping with presentations, newsletters and product documentation. I have done this since 2011, and have good understanding of language and can assist in many situations. Other writing includes; , proof reading articles, assignments, and corporate presentations, all for clients who work in various fields.Working as a tour guide is a job in which I really had to hone in my interpersonal skills, to be entertaining, informing, and knowing the audience. It also allowed to me put to use my love of history, as well as giving me the chance to meet people from across the globe.I also love another side hustle I have as a guitar teacher. My previous career was in IT, as a database manager for an insurance broker. Here I managed the database system which held all client data, as well as perform functions for generating quotes. I also regularly partake in online programming courses, such as FreeCodeCamp.com, and I am acquainted with GitHub and working with repositories. I am good at learning new principles, I work hard and I am determined to make a career in a given field. I enjoy learning new concepts, and I enjoy contributing to a team.

Freelance Teacher And Content WriterFreelance Sep 2012 - PresentPrague, CzechiaRecruited to the freelance writing agency More Than Writers.com, in which I wrote technical articles for a drinks company and a travel agency. This involved having to use certain terminology for web searches, and sticking to strict writing paradigms, as well as making efficient use of a short character length. Regularly helped students write documentation, newsletters, business emails, and contract proposals, aas well as updates on the company website. I also assisted in preparing corporate presentations, which included gaining knowledge of a certain industry, such as 'machine reading'. The process of writing such materials required collaboration with the person I was writing for, and thus I had to often explain why certain grammatical functions had to be followed. This also involved needing to come to a compromise on our thoughts of how information should be presented, as well as using the soft skills to acquire what the writer of the material really wanted to say.

English Language TeacherPrague Language Institute Oct 2021 - PresentPrague, CzechiaIntensive exam preparation for specific university English entry exams, Including The Czech University of Life Sciences and Prague University of Economics. These exams are very grammar heavy, often going into very fine detail on certain aspects of English syntax. In this position I had to explain specific structures in a detailed but relatable way. Students would often come to the classes with a list of questions on why a certain question has a certain answer, and I would in turn explain to the group the reasoning for the correct answer on the spot, using analogies and examples so that I could ensure it was truly understood.Traditional exams such as TOIEC, and the Cambridge exams had to be taught, often to students who had limited language awareness. Multiple exams as well as essays also needed to be graded, often without an answer key, and because of this a critical analysis of the exams had to be done. -
English Language TeacherGymnázium Jaroslava Heyrovského Sep 2019 - Nov 2022Prague, CzechiaDesigned the syllabus, and solely conducted lessons, for final-year students, in order to prepare them for the final exam. Subjects ranged from; literature, history, geography, politics, and NGOs. I was simply given the field of study, and I had to design an engaging and informative lesson plan with few resources. Frequently graded articles and essays, and gave critical feedback. Most assignments were to a high language standard, as this gymnazium specialises in languages, and thus entailed needing to have an eye for detail. The role also frequently required me to proof read applications for universities in the UK and USA. Managed classrooms of up to twenty final-year students. As the average language level was very high, I needed to use new innovative teaching practices, as the more traditional ones available were quite outdated and did not offer much benefit to the learners. I also gave critical feedback to senior teachers and head of departments on the progress and issues taking place in the school, as well as performing extra supervision duties.

Senior Language InstructorSpěváček Oct 2012 - Nov 2022Prague, The Capital, Czech RepublicDesigned syllabi and learning materials, often for specialised courses and exam preparation. These were 3-hour classes, and required a lot of innovative thinking in order to be engaging and useful for the groups of young learners. For the last few years working at this school, I joined the academic department for the teacher training program. This involved regularly observing teacher trainees conducting a lesson, and provided constructive feedback to them with any advice, and also provided feedback to the academic department. I also worked as a mentor for new employees in their first months of working, by observing their classes and then helping them with any issues they had. This was a part of the job I really enjoyed. Another part of the job I enjoyed was meeting a wide range of people and learning about their backgrounds and professions.Gave monthly training seminars on teaching techniques and classroom management. This would involve passing on any techniques or general advice which I had accumulated over my teaching experience, and passing that knowledge on to others. -
