Over my 17-year career, I have been directly involved with the entire spectrum of activities for generating healthcare innovations and bringing them to the market. I have leadership level experience in identifying and characterizing unmet clinical needs, validation of the market opportunity, design and prototyping, writing patents, building an IP portfolio, ensuring patent freedom-to-operate, hiring and building the team, creating benchtop tissue models, presenting in investor meetings, pre-clinical testing, writing technical and medical documents, participating in audits, drafting feasibility and pivotal clinical trial documents, analyzing trial data, obtaining regulatory clearances, and finding & training new physician users. Several projects I have worked on have become successful medical devices and have benefited hundreds of thousands of patients worldwide. I work by taking charge and making things work. A few things that define my career: Stanford Biodesign: The Biodesign philosophy (identify, invent, implement) lies at the core of almost everything I do. I wouldn't be able to do what I am doing now without the training, mentorship, and inspiration from the Biodesign program.IP and innovation: Patents have played a central role since Day 1 of my career. I am a patent agent who wrote my first patent in 2002. I am also an active inventor with more than 50 US patents to my name. This background helps me bring a unique perspective to innovation and IP activities. Team: The team (not an individual) makes a project successful. I have had the privilege of working in teams made of some of the very best professionals in the world. Complexity: I like handling complexity. A lot of value is unlocked by identifying and managing complexity upfront and getting clarity on the path forward. Silicon Valley: Almost all of my career has been in the valley. I deeply admire the can-do spirit of the people here. The air here is unique and I breathe this air daily.
