I was the Content & Social Media Specialist for the Indigo Group of Hotels, overseeing the digital universe of Labourdonnais Waterfront Hotel, Le Suffren Hotel & Marina, Hennessy Park Hotel, The Address Boutique Hotel and I Spa Clubs. A typical day at the office started with answering reviews on several platforms such as TripAdvisor, Expedia Central, Booking.com, and Google My Business amongst others while at the same time replying to queries received on different social channels (Facebook & Instagram mainly). Then came on the hat of the copywriter to conjure names and texts for new food promotions, preparing communication plans, managing budgets for different ads, any new brochures or collaterals. I also managed our website with the help of a developer on a near daily basis and was encouraged to come up with ideas to motion the company in the digital age.

3 years working as an Accounts Executive at Redhouse McCann. I started as a Copywriter involved in producing website copy, writing and/or proofreading brochures and adverts, and coming up with the strategy for the launching of new brands and products.Evolution happened and I became the Social Media Manager for our clients’ accounts where I had a lot of on-the-job training, learned how to handle crises on behalf of our clients and helped in growing their online brand reputation. Ultimately, I was given the opportunity to become the Accounts Executive working as a client liaison person where I had to correctly understand project briefs and pass on the information to the team of designers in the agency. I participated in many pitches won (and also lost) by the agency, did market research and on-the-field surveys for our clients. Fun fact: Much later, I found out that the agency had hired 3 people to replace me.

My responsibilities included: • Supporting beneficiaries from the LGBT community. • Giving counsel and directions. • Demonstration of how to properly use preservatives. • Organizing events for the community.

6 months as an Assistant Compliance Officer at Appleby Management (Mauritius) Ltd, whereby my responsibilities included: • Advising on legal issues – Mauritian and International. • AML and CFT Knowledge – Policy maintenance and update. • Due Diligence on Group Companies, External Clients and Individuals. • Client acceptance. • Corporate file reviews and risk reviews. • Conducting conflict checks for the Appleby Law Firm.

4 months as an Assistant Executive in Temple Group, working in three different departments: Temple Professionals: The training limb of the group, aiding in the dispensing of MQA-approved courses to professionals in the financial sector. Temple Consulting: A compliance consultancy firm which acts as an outsourced compliance department for companies in the banking and non-banking financial institutions. Thirdly, Temple Law Books which offers products with world-class content, information analytics and workflow solutions for professionals in the legal, risk management, corporate and compliance fields, government, law enforcement, accounting and academic market.

The traineeship involved doing background checks on present and future clients, implementing standardization procedures within the company, conducting procedural reviews, assisting legal officers in the reviewing of contracts and keeping up-to-date with law reforms, and any other duties given by the department.
