Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech) is one of the research institutes of the Agency for Science, Technology and Research. The Institute's role is to develop high value manufacturing technology to enhance the competitiveness of Singapore's manufacturing industry. SIMTech carries out contract research work in collaboration with industry to develop technologies spanning all areas of manufacturing. I am currently Deputy Group Manager of the Surface Technology Group. My duties include:- Setting technical directions for the group's research activities - Project management - Supervision of junior members of staff and students from local universities

Employed as a development chemist working on the formulation of chemicals used in the manufacture of printed circuit boards. Also involved in the formulation of solder paste for electronics assembly. Main achievements were:1, Developed a patented immersion silver coating to preserve solderability of circuit boards. 2. Installed this new process into 3 PCB manufacturers in the UK and Germany 3. Development of low residue no-clean solder pastes
