Leading parallel careers as an Executive Director, Researcher, & a Life/Soft Skills Trainer, Amuda Mishra has been working on projects that promote sustainable development, gender inclusive leadership, & community empowerment in Nepal since 2013.An innovative feminist at heart, Amuda is the Founder & Executive Director of Ujyalo Foundation, a feminist organization with a vision to create safe spaces for all women and girls to lead and learn in Nepal. Ujyalo Foundations focuses on building equitable spaces, especially in leadership for all women and girls through leadership building, economic empowerment, and innovation. Ujyalo's mission is to enhance the number of women and girls in decision making and leadership roles in Nepal. Amuda is also one of the co-founders of a local handmade shoe enterprise promoting Nepali handmade shoes, DOCHAA. Amuda is one of the 2020 Asia Foundation Development Fellows and was listed as one of the WOW 2016 Women to Watch. In 2019, Amuda received the Zonta Club of Kathmandu Champion Award presented on Zonta International's Cenntenial award for outstanding commitment to empowering women and girls in Nepal. Amuda is the initiator of programs like “EmpowHER”, young women leadership and idea incubation program, and “NiDARR”, the only award-winning smartphone gender-based violence reporting tool in Nepal. In Nepal, Amuda is actively involved with National Banking Institute where she conducts organizational leadership and communications seminars for bankers and business houses including feminist leadership courses for her own programs at Ujyalo Foundation. Amuda Mishra graduated with an M.P.H degree from the University of Colorado-Denver in 2013. Her expertise includes grant writing, proposal/report writing, needs and capacity assessment, and impact assessment, idea incubation, social entrepreneurship, feminist leadership training, and developing gender-responsive modules. Amuda was one of the Clinton Global Initiative University commitment makers in 2013. As a part of the Clinton Global Initiative- Commitment to Action program, she founded ‘Project Ujyalo’, which focused on lighting up underprivileged communities in Birgunj using recycled plastic bottles.
