Starting his career in the musicbusiness in the mid-80´s Jens-Markus Wegener founded his first own promotion and marketing company „Public Propaganda“ on July 1st, 1987.In 1990, he started the music publishing company “AMV Alster Musikverlag”. In the early 2000s he became a board member at „Deutscher Musikverleger Verband“ (DMV). The publishing joint venture „AMV Talpa“, which was formed in 2006 together with the Dutch media company Talpa Music, placed various tracks on several number 1-albums in the USA, France, Japan and Germany. AMV Talpa was eventually listed under the top 10 of the most successful music publishers in Germany. In 2012, Wegener successfully sold his music catalogue to German Budde Musikverlag,In January 2013, Jens-Markus Wegener got appointed as Managing Director at IMAGEM Music GmbH, and started to build up the German branch of one of the biggest independent publisher in the world at that time. With newly signed German HipHop star FLER he continued his successful career and entered German sales charts at number 1 in February 2015 to make IMAGEM Music GmbH the Top 7 publisher in Germany. At the MusExpo 2016 in Hollywood/USA Wegener eventually received his award for „Worldwide Publisher of the year 2016“.In January 2018 Wegener decided to reactivate his own publishing company, AMV Publishing, and was appointed to General Manager of the Meisel publishing group. With the single “In meinem Benz” by AK Ausserkontrolle who Wegener co-signed with Dutch publisher CTM in 2019 he eventually reached the no. 1 position in German sales charts in August 2020. AK´s album went to album sales charts just one week later.In January 2021 Jens-Markus Wegener began at Guesstimate Publishing in his new position as Director Publishing. His focus was on building a worldwide sub-publishing network for the Berlin-based boutique publisher. In addition, Wegener was responsible for developing and implementing a sync strategy for the international marketing of Guesstimate´s master and publishing catalogue. In May 2023 Wegener decided to step back as Director Publishing of Guesstimate and has continued to work as freelance consultant for international music companies. Since January 1st, 2024, Jens-Markus has started again to sign international songwriters and producers to AMV Publishing in a co-publishing joint venture together with SMV Schacht Musikverlage.
