I remember it like it was yesterday! There I was a 19 year old taking my first Desktop Publishing class at the local community college. We were learning to use Adobe Pagemaker, it was the year 2000, and I was in love. Not with a man but with page layout. I had just finished making my first brochure and it looked awesome! I’m sure you remember what that was like when you first discovered your passion. Several years down the line I started doing the layout for the Rowan Magazine, and I loved it even more than I did making that first brochure. We, of course, used QuarkXpress at the time and then later switched to AdobeInDesign.I do hold an Associates degree in Graphic Design from the Art Institute of Charlotte, and a Bachelors degree in Religion from Liberty University, and have been a designer for the last 11 years. I’ve worked on various forms of media including direct mail, some web design, t-shirt design, brochures, logo creation,advertisements and my favorite, magazine layout.As a designer I am proficient in the use of the Adobe Creative Suite, able to use both Mac and PC platforms. Specifically I use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator CC. I am also able to create fillable forms through Adobe Acrobat. When working on a page layout I prefer to use Adobe Indesign CC but I have also used QuarkXpress in the past. I am able to do multi and single-color layouts. I have been thoroughly trained in printing on a printer Konica Bizhub 6500, which prints through a CREO print server. I am also able to prepare artwork for printing in spot colors or four-color process, as a screen-printed t-shirt or a multi-page document. My goal is to find a career that is not just a job but is a calling, one that utilizes both of my degrees. I would love to be able to speak with you at your earliest convenience.
