JCADA (Jewish Coalition Against Domestic Abuse) is a non-profit organization in Rockville, Maryland. Their mission is to support victims of power based violence, educate the community about power-based violence, and prevent future generations from abuse. My role was an AWARE intern. AWARE is a branch of JCADA focused on educating young adults and teenagers about the signs of unhealthy relationships, the different types of abuse, and techniques to help get out of an abusive relationship through interactive workshops, programs, and speaking events. Work completed: - Prepared over 500 character cards and entered hundreds of surveys from the program participants - Edited more than 50 character stories for the teen education programs - Conducted research about dating violence in five popular TV shows and prepared a resource sheet for youth service providers and parentsMy time at JCADA helped educate me about the different types of abuse, signs of unhealthy relationships, and how to handle different situations that involve myself or others being in an unsafe relationship. What I learned from this internship was invaluable and I will continue to use the skills I gained in my future careers.
