Amy Allerton is the founder and Director of Indigico Creative Pty Ltd and a contemporary Aboriginal artist, graphic designer and photographer. I am a Gumbaynggirr and Bundjalung woman whose family’s traditional land is located in the Clarence Valley, NSW, in a rural area called Cangai. My family has kinship ties to the Gomeroi nation, and my identity is strongly grounded in Gomeroi culture, history, dreaming, art and language having been born and raised in Tamworth, NSW, where I still live with my two human children and two fur children.I have been providing graphic design services Australia-wide since 2014, collaborating with businesses and partnering with communities to creatively communicate the stories that bring us together. I am driven by my personal and professional vision that every story is given value and a voice, to revitalise communities, reconnect to culture and restore identities to build a stronger future.A natural progression from designing visual communications in the corporate market, I apply my skills in digital illustration to deliver a modern approach to Aboriginal storytelling through digital art. My artworks are an extension from my personal journey of exploring my cultural identity, utilising my unique ability to speak in colour and imagery to create visual representations of the journeys and values of organisations and communities.I am passionate about knowledge sharing through relational engagement and collaboration, taking organisations on authentic and personal journeys to discover the purpose, perspective and power of storytelling. Through a cultural lens that decolonises western business perspectives and approaches, I guide and support organisations to harness the power of storytelling to achieve far reaching, positive impacts on economic, social, political, legal and environmental outcomes for Indigenous and non-Indigenous businesses, communities and individuals alike.
