I work as the family support advisor and safe guarding deputy lead within a SEN school. I am a first point of contact with the families who have a young person at the school, this maybe regarding a concern, seeking support or advice. For the pupils I am a trusted adult, I have built good relationships with pupils from the age of 4-19 years old. I do check ins with the pupils, I am there to listen to worries and concerns or to just have a conversation around their day, I will offer advice, strategies, guidance and information to all sorts of situations if relevant. I have to be a good communicator, a good listener, empathetic and able to manage my own emotions as well as others. For this job I have been able have training within areas such as Advance child protection, mental health first aid, bereavement training and managing difficult conversations.

Working with a range of pupils from 4 years to 19 years old with a range of special educational needs or behaviour challenges, supporting them through their education, adapting the way we teach and they learn to their needs.We work along side other agencies in creating and building plans to support each pupil as an individual to the best of their potential. I would deal with challenging behaviour, working on building positive relationships, sharing strategies and knowledge on how to deal and regulate emotions.I also would support the teacher in any admin jobs they needed to be completed.

Seasonal work - Section leader:I was managing a team of the camp instructors to ensure activities were being run correctly and kept to a specific schedule, providing any additional information needed to both staff and guests.Outdoor Instructor;I was leading groups of all ages around the camp, instructing and providing information about different activities including; kayaking, archery, nature walks, high ropes, team building and much more.For some of these roles I was required to gain certifications before I could run the activities such as • High ropes and rock-climbing Level 2, Big Canoe skills introduction paddler.
