I am a rabbi and nonprofit leader who guides people and organizations to live their values and achieve their goals effectively. I began my career as a congregational rabbi, spent several years in Jewish day school leadership, and most recently served as director of Jewish life and learning at the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh. I am currently leading a strategic plan process for Jewish teen education and engagement involving multiple organizations and stakeholders across the Pittsburgh community.I have developed expertise in: -helping people find meaning and inspiration in Jewish tradition in a way that is authentic to them-thinking strategically about complex issues-listening to community leaders to identify unmet needs and opportunities for change-convening a wide range of professional and lay leaders to solve pressing problems-building a shared vision among multiple stakeholders-turning a vision into an actionable implementation plan-sharing best practices with professionals-designing research and using the data to drive organizational change-fundraising, grant-making, and allocations-inspiring community organizations to dream big and act boldlyI love sharing my thoughts on complicated issues and have written opinion pieces for e-Jewish Philanthropy, the New York Jewish Week, and the Wall Street Journal.I have the following rabbinic skills:-leading traditional Jewish prayer (weekdays, Shabbat, and holidays)-giving sermons-teaching Jewish text-facilitating lifecycle eventsMy new big daily commitment is Daf Yomi, a cycle of study aiming to complete the entire Talmud in 7.5 years (only 5 years to go!).
