Dr. Amy Beacom has worked in the field of executive leadership development and coaching, with a particular focus on issues of relevance to women leaders, since 1996. In 2006, after the birth of her first child, Amy envisioned a new field of executive coaching and consulting that focused on the unique challenges and opportunities faced by working parents – and their work organizations – specific to the parental leave timeframe and began creating the field of parental leave coaching and consulting while at Columbia University working on her doctorate in Organizational Psychology. In 2014 she founded the Center for Parental Leave Leadership (CPLL) as the only full service consulting and coaching company to focus exclusively on Parental Leave. The RETAIN Parental Leave Coaching Method™, Making Leave Manageable™ manager training, the Workplace Perinatal Mental Health Screen™, the Parental Leave Transition Assessment™ (PLTA) and PLTA Report (the only evidence-based self-assessment tool that also creates a 22 page customized report including a Risk Score), the PLTA-Manager's Questionnaire™ and the RETAIN Coaching Institute™ are a few of the business and human support products and services based on her work. She is also the author of the first book to offer a proven roadmap to navigate leave and return for parents and managers: The Parental Leave Playbook (published by Wiley in Fall 2021). Dr. Beacom is a sought after and approachable speaker, thought leader, and proud mom of two mindbogglingly awesome teenagers.
