I’ve worked across several fields through my career, but one thread strings them together: I’m a storyteller. After I earned my political science and women’s studies B.A. from Emory University, I moved to Washington, D.C. I swapped one Washington for another and completed my Ph.D. in Feminist Studies from the University of Washington in Seattle. My academic work gave me the chance to use life stories to dig into several “big” questions: How do people make sense of their everyday lives? How do they find ways to thrive in the face of adversity? How can we work toward equity and justice through our policies and programs? Above all else, how do you tell stories about resilience (and resistance) when the deck is stacked against you? I’ve been profiled and have written on these topics and others in news outlets such as NPR, The Conversation, The Society Pages, AsiaGlobal Online, the Huffington Post, the Root, the Indian Express, Quartz, and The Seattle Times. I had the chance to use my writing and program management skills into operation when I was invited to curate two exhibits at Seattle's Museum of History and Industry (MOHAI): the traveling Smithsonian exhibit Beyond Bollywood: Indian Americans Shape the Nation (2019-20) and Stand Up Seattle: The Democracy Project (2021). I’m a seasoned public speaker with experience in book promotion and have given over 80 public lectures, keynotes, book talks, and conference presentations. Now I run the Brohatt Group, a research and writing consulting business aimed at amplifying untold stories. With 15 plus years of experience as a facilitator, writer, strategist, oral historian, and professor, I help leaders and organizations reach wide audiences by collaboratively authoring books, articles, reports, strategic plans, and web content. I am passionate about amplifying untold stories with an eye toward equity and justice, and I bring a sharp editorial eye to help you hone your most powerful and effective voice.
