Responsible for sales, use & property tax reporting for this $1.6 billion manufacturer and wholesaler of greeting cards & related social expression products. Company operates 5 manufacturing facilities and 2 distribution centers within North America. This position is accountable for sale and use tax returns, property tax returns, assessments, bill payment, annual returns, business licenses, tracking expemption certificates, Canadian taxes, audits and reconciliations. The budget for this department is in excess of $7 million.

CARLTON CARDS RETAIL (a subsidiary of American Greetings): Responsible for all aspects of financial accounting of this $180 million greeting card & related social expression products retailer with approximately 450 retail locations and 2 distribution facilities located in the United States and Canada. Prepared journal entries including Canadian currency translation, fixed asset reporting, and reconciliations. Ensured that financial statements were prepared in accordance with GAAP & company policy; and presented the financial & budget results for US, Canada and North American to upper management, including the Carlton Retail Vice President and Director of Financial Planning & Analysis and the American Greetings Director and Manager of Subsidiary Accounting.

Primarily responsible for preparing journal entries, reconciling 15 bank statements and intercompany entries for this single family brokerage firm with 34 local offices. In charge of tracking agent and employee loans, reimbursing home warranty claims and preparing invoices and payments for relocation expenses. Examined balance sheet and expense accounts for accuracy and followed up on issues to ensure accurate reporting. Compared financial statements to the budget in order to analyze fluctuations.

Primarily responsible for the daily cash management of sales, cash and disbursements and accounts payable for this industrial holding company with 10 manufacturing plants in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan as well as Mexico with consolidated sales of approximately $200 million. Revised and enhanced the monthly financial reporting package for subsidiaries. Researched and setup the FAS2000 program for the reporting of fixed assets. Compiled year end audit information and prepared all 1099’s.
