• Based in the QC laboratory of a GMP site the daily responsibilities involve supporting the work of the production team.• General lab maintenance: calibration of equipment, preparation of reagents in accordance with GMP and FDA requirements sample collection & preparation.• Analysis of raw materials and finished products using techniques such as: HPLC,GC GPC and Mass spectrometry whilst keeping detailed & accurate records in accordance with GMP.• Testing raw materials and finished products along with analysing data and report writing.• Compiling with GMP processes and analysed data; record research procedures and results; files and maintain records; coding of data for input for electronic data processing, analyse data, produce summary statistics.• Investigate adverse results and to provide expert advice and recommendations to Production and Development, eg perform investigations for product and test anomalies.

The research group focused on detailed structural analysis and targeted chemical/biochemical modifications as strategies for understanding the biological functions and pharmacological properties of oligosaccharides and polysaccharides and for modulating their activities. It pioneered the application of NMR spectroscopy to carbohydrates and carbohydrate polymers. It currently uses also advanced mass spectrometers for oligosaccharide sequencing and for carbohydrate-protein binding studies.Responsibilities:• Set-up and operation of various scientific apparatus; spectrophotometer, fraction collectors, chromatography equipment, centrifuges, incubators, and various microscopes in accordance with GMP standards.• Assisting with research projects (Testing formulated products, raw materials and active pharmaceutical ingredients against the specific quality specifications to ensure safety and efficacy)• Performing independent research; plans, designing and implementing research projects; ; preparation of buffer solutions.• Techniques: Affinity chromatography, HPLC, electrophoresis, Equilibrium dialysis, ultrafiltration, or ultracentrifugation of samples, pre-clinical pharmacokinetic assays specific to Heparin, sterilising equipment; separating and purifying various materials and substance.• Performing library research; preparing compounds; interpreting experimental test data; performing minor equipment repairs; cuts, stains and mounting specimens• Attended and participates in meetings, conferences, and training groups.
