GO2 Foundation for Lung Cancer represents the merger of the Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation and the Lung Cancer Alliance, two leading national organizations in the fight against lung cancer. Together they become the “go-to” local and global force serving and advocating for the needs of the millions of people who are vulnerable, at risk or diagnosed, and all others impacted by or impactingthe disease.

The Georgia Research Alliance (GRA) is a non-profit organization that helps drive scientific research, innovation and economic development in Georgia through recruitment of scientific talent, investment in research infrastructure, and commercialization of new discoveries. Since 1990, GRA has leveraged $600 million of state funding into $4 billion in direct federal and private investment and has launched over 400 companies leading to the creation of over 1500 high-value jobs.As Director of Research Programs, I oversee GRA’s research initiatives, providing scientific expertise to advance the role of the GRA Academy and to increase Georgia’s visibility and reputation as a leader in science and technology. I also work closely with the GRA Eminent Scholars, with a particular focus on program evaluation and outcomes reporting.In addition to my background as a research scientist, I hold a certificate in research administration from Georgia State University, where I also serve as an adjunct professor in the Department of Biology, teaching frequently in the Honors College.​ I also was in the inaugural Executive Leadership Academy for Women class at GSU.

Oversee day-to-day operations and evaluation of the GCC research programs, including: drafting RFPs; implementing marketing plans; monitoring performance measures; reviewing progress reports; assisting with oversight of contracts; monitoring scientific review process. Provide administrative oversight for Biorepository Alliance of Georgia for Oncology (BRAG-Onc), including oversight of contracts, site visits, assisting researchers with obtaining biospecimensServe as liaison between GCC and external entities (Office of Sponsored Programs at all universities, Vice Presidents for Research, etc.) Assist in development of budgets for GCC programs (DCCS, Cancer Research Awards, BRAG-Onc) and preparation of materials submitted to Office of the Governor, Governor’s Office of Budget and Planning, and the Georgia General Assembly to secure funds for research programs. Identify funding and collaboration opportunities for researchers. Organize research symposia.Identify and apply for funding opportunities on behalf of GCC (NIH, CDC, HHS, private foundations)

As an ACS-funded postdoctoral fellow in Scott Hiebert's laboratory, I studied molecular mechanisms of leukemogenesis. Specifically, I studied the function of members of the Myeloid Translocation Gene (MTG) family as inhibitors of the Wnt signaling pathway. While at Vanderbilt, I also served as President of the Vanderbilt Postdoctoral Association and on the Vanderbilt Medical Alumni Association Board of Directors. I served on the Dean's mentoring committee and helped lead Vanderbilt's adoption of the Individual Development Plan (IDP) for postdocs. I also assisted in planning career and postdoc symposia, organized seminars on different topics (applying for faculty positions, K awards, non-academic careers), and served as a Vanderbilt representative at GREAT Group meetings.

I studied adenovirus (Ad) assembly in the laboratory of Mike Imperiale. I developed a panel of recombinant baculoviruses expressing Ad structural proteins and looked for the formation of virus particles in infected Sf9 cells using electron microscopy.

My research focused on the interaction of the adenovirus E1B-55K and E4orf6 proteins, which form a physical complex that regulates RNA transport during virus infection. Using a somatic cell hybrid approach, I mapped an activity on human chromosome 21 that is required for formation of this complex. That activity mapped to the RUNX1 (AML1) gene, which is a common target of chromosomal translocations in acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
