After graduating from Georgia College & State University with a degree in Consumer and Family Sciences, Amy began her career as a County Extension Agent. Later, she served as Director of Housekeeping and then the Director of Social Services in a long-term care nursing facility. Her current position as Recruitment & Retention Specialist centers around the daily management of a non-profit job training course, Bread for Life. Having spent much of her career in a diverse range of education and service industry positions, Amy brings a valuable combination of experiences to The Classic Center Human Resources and Workforce Development team. Her past experiences with youth and adult education, facility housekeeping, and social services uniquely qualify her for this role. Amy’s greatest career achievement is realized when those she teaches, and coaches experience a mind shift from a place of despair to a place of hope. In addition, Amy is involved with all areas of education at The Classic Center including Hospitality Career Academy and Athens Area Community Career Academy both for high school students, staff Inservice training, and grant writing.When not at work, Amy enjoys spending time with her family both in her hometown of Bogart and traveling. She is married to David and together they have raised three children. Their son Carter, an Avionics Tech is married to Abby, and they live in Portland, OR. Caroline, their only daughter, and a recent UGA graduate works for Richmond County Health Department WIC in Augusta, GA. And their youngest son, McCord serves as an Aircraft Structural Maintenance Tech with the Air Force Reserves.
