CurrentMy role as a Senior Designer/Art Editor involves working on multiple titles from the conception and development of an initial idea, through to the delivery of the completed product. I am responsible for generating the overall aesthetic for a new book, and instrumental in the set up of the typographic and visual style. From there, I develop and create templates; construct style guides, design spread layouts, and produce jacket concepts.The role requires me to work alongside my editor to project manage both front list and back list titles by overseeing a team of in-house designers, DK Delhi, freelancers, packagers and production staff to ensure that deadlines are met with precision, and within budget. Print production plays a vital role in the work that I do. Working closely with the production team in selecting the right finishes that complement each title, which ultimately adds value and character to each book, and enhances the readers experience.I commission and build strong relationships with artworkers, illustrators, and photographers. Over the years I have gained valuable experience in organising, and art directing photoshoots, which contributes to DK’s content library.I take a positive attitude to everything I do, and seek out new challenges to increase my own confidence and ability. This therefore, enables me to become more of an accomplished, and all round designer.
