As a student Intern I provide support for the Energy Research and Development Division, which includes the following responsibilities: 1) Gathering, compiling, and editing data from technical and administrative staff; 2) Screening, arranging, and prioritizing incoming correspondence; 3) Formatting research reports using Microsoft Word; 4) Ordering and restocking the office supplies; 5) Preparing signs and posters for division events; and 6) Researching various sources for best practices within the California Energy Commission.

As a bookseller at Barnes and Noble, I have a wide range of duties from day to day. I frequently work at the customer service desk where I assist customers in finding books, ordering books and answering the phone. While at the customer service desk, I am also expected to promote store sales and assist the managers in setting up displays and creating the store promotions. I work closely with the department leads and managers in bringing the best known practices to the bookstore. I maintain stock on shelves by making sure that all merchandise is displayed and that merchandise inventory counts are accurate. I also work as a cashier and salesperson. Other duties include closing/opening cash registers and training new employee hires in the basic mechanics of the store operation and cafe operation in accordance with company requirements.
