About Amy Claxton

I thoroughly enjoy my chosen career path of paraplanner! My love of exploring ways to support our clients, developing new technical knowledge and (of course) a good spreadsheet, lend themselves to my success in this role. I am hardworking and enthusiastic, capable of working both on my own or in a group, with excellent communication and organisational skills.In my recent time as Business Manager & Senior Paraplanner at Slone Capital, I am particularly proud of having been nominated in two categories, Admin Support and Paraplanner of the year, for the 2020 and 2021 Women In Finance Awards and was subsequently shortlisted for Paraplanner of the Year in 2020. These nominations reflected my efforts to be an integral part of the team and my involvement in almost every area of the business, including ongoing account management and more technical areas such as cashflow forecasting and preparing suitability reports. My previous role specialising in Income Protection proved useful in supporting the team with my in-depth knowledge of personal protection products.Prior to working in the insurance and financial industry I was employed with Enterprise (rent-a-car) where I completed the graduate training scheme within a year and within 14 months was promoted to Assistant Manager of the Leigh-on-sea branch. I proved myself to be flexible (having worked in no less than 4 branches during my training period) and successful at driving income and sales, as well as providing exceptional customer service. Most importantly, I developed the ability to multi-task and organise my day efficiently which has been a key part of making me successful as a paraplanner and account manager today. I have always had at least one job since the age of 13, from a paper round to a summer internship at Thomson Reuters which taught me a lot and was invaluable in terms of understanding the structure of a business and demonstrating a strong work ethic.
