I currently work as a front of house receptionist for Virgin Active Leeds part time. This role requires communicating and serving members, answering the phone for public enquiry and handling cash and important documents. It has also required for me to become part of a team and work on group and individual skills to give the best possible customer service.

In the summer of 2014, I participated in a two-week placement at Rainbows Private Day Nursery in Bradford. During my time at this placement I had the opportunity and responsibility of caring for young toddlers and children, preparing and taking part in daily tasks and activities with them, which included problem and puzzle solving. Each of the activities I took part in helped their early stages of education, but it also required me to use my own initiative, cooperate and work as a team, as well as learning to take on team leadership roles and take instructions given by a team leader, which included other teachers and childminders within the nursery. As part of this role I had to demonstrate front of house skills which included, admin and paperwork such as keeping track of registers and answering phone calls. I was also required to handle money whilst taking payments from parents for their children and present an overall polite professional and positive attitude. The cleaning role involved in this job has made me aware of COSHH files and how to deal with cleaning procedures and chemicals appropriately so that customers and other people remain safe throughout this procedure. As part of this placement I was also trained on how to act in certain emergency situations such as fire drills and evacuations and what to do if any of the children needed first aid or had specific medical requirements.
