Led 13-member team to support clinical, operational, financial, and regulatory areas of high-volume Cardiac Service line for 170-bed hospital in 7000-staff healthcare system with 4 acute care centers, 3 urgent care centers, and home health services. Supported volumes of 300 CV Surgeries and 4000 cardiac (interventional and electrophysiology) annually. Reported to Vice President Business Development.DEPARTMENT LEADERSHIP: Oversaw 8 departments including Cardiac Catheterization/Electrophysiology labs, Transitional Care Unit, Non-Invasive Cardiology, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Cardiovascular Nurse Practitioner Service, Cardiac Data Coordinators, Interventional Radiology, and Center for Cardiac and Vascular Research. Coached and mentored managers of departments.FEDERAL & STATE REPORTING: Monitored compliance/reporting with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as licensing and accreditation standards. Point of contact for MD State committees for Cardiac Surgery and Region IV STEMI quality initiatives. Implemented procedures to receive Certificate of Ongoing Performance and consistently exceed state and federal audit standards.OPERATIONS COMMITTEE: Led Cardiovascular Operations Committee and served on Clinical Standards Board, Performance Improvement Council, Nursing Executive Council, Clinical Practice Council, Radiation Safety, and Capital Committees.QUALITY COMMITTEES: Structured/led service line quality committees for Cardiac Surgery, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, and Electrophysiology lab. Chaired monthly meetings to uncover opportunities for improve and develop action plans.PARTNERSHIPS / EXPERTISE PROMOTION: Promoted cardiac service line expertise to local groups and hospitals, coordinated STEMI patient transfer for emergent procedures/surgeries, and built strong partnerships with outside facilities.MALCOLM BALDRIDGE QUALITY EXAMINER: Served as National Examiner of other facilities for Malcolm Baldridge Quality Award.
