Access Services Manager
Branch Manager
I managed the Juliaetta Community Library. As part of my duties I planned and presented storytimes and the Summer Reading Program, managed circulation, shelved books, fielded reference questions, and performed collection development. I provided excellent customer service for our patrons by conducting reader advisory interviews, providing technical assistance, helping locate books both on our shelves and in our district, and placing holds. I coordinated with our district to gain resources for the library and maintain district standards.
Intern
I learned and practiced conservation and repair methods in order to help preserve documents and books in the MASC. A large part of this responsibility focused on preserving the original document as much as possible while ensuring it would be accessible for researchers in the future. My work included creating enclosures, wrappers, and boxes to hold and support particularly fragile books. My responsibilities also included removing staples from documents and sewing them back together, removing tape and other acidic additions to documents, repairing loose or damaged book spines, and repairing damaged pages with Japanese mending paper. I mainly practiced archivist techniques to repair historic documents, but I also learned and practiced repair techniques used by the mending department for books in the general circulation.
Media Center Intern
I helped with daily tasks in the media center and library such as checking in and out books, processing new books, and assisting students and teachers as needed. In addition, I worked on special projects such as creating book displays, creating tutorials for students and leading a few classes in conducting scholarly research. I assisted teachers in developing instructional material, and put together supplemental material to aide students with certain class projects.
Technical Support Representative
I helped students and staff at the university resolve a wide range of technical problems, from resetting passwords and updating internet certificates to reinstalling software and addressing security risks. I helped create and manage user accounts for the university's network, maintained computer labs and documented work. This included helping computer users both in person, on the phone and over email. After my first year, I assisted in training new employees in my office and I helped create instructional resources for co-workers. In my last year working for the university I created and edited multimedia training materials for computer users campus-wide, while also working on content development and maintenance for our website.
Intern
I conducted market research as an intern by polling tourists who visited the Belvedere about their experience.
Take Pride In America
I assisted in planning the Take Pride in America annual award ceremony and the reception on White House grounds. I helped coordinate the annual 4th of July Party of the DOI, which included contacting members of state to acquire their mailing addresses, and handling privileged information.
