My work included creating enclosures, wrappers, and boxes to hold and support particularly fragile books. My responsibilities also included removing staples from documents and sewing them back together, removing tape and other acidic additions to documents, repairing loose or damaged book spines, and repairing damaged pages with Japanese mending paper. I mainly practiced archivist techniques to repair historic documents, but I also learned and practiced repair techniques used by the mending department for books in the general circulation.
