Ms. Nelson has 24 years of experience within the environmental consulting field as a risk assessor of both terrestrial and aquatic environments as part of remedial investigations and remedial design. She is responsible for managing projects and designing and implementing field work, including pond and river investigations, ecological surveys, and wetland restoration. On a daily basis, Ms. Nelson effectively coordinates with analytical laboratories, subcontractors, clients, and consultant teams to prepare and present strategies and findings to clients and reviewing agencies. Ms. Nelson has direct experience with oversight and leadership of data collection and presents field study findings to local agency and community representatives. Her areas of expertise include projects involving former manufactured gas plants (MGPs), former and active wood treating facilities, pulp and paper facilities and beneficial use of dredged sediment materials. The project sites Ms. Nelson has worked on range from small, locally contaminated freshwater streams to large, complex riverine and estuarine systems involving groundwater-surface water interface. These projects are subject to federal and state regulations (including those of MA, NH, CT, DE, MD, NY, MI, PA, OR and WA) and are at various stages in the site investigation and/or remediation process.She is also an active participant in the local North Atlantic Chapter of the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC), having recently completed her post as past president of the board of directors.Ms. Nelson has been involved with environmental policy and ecology and management studies through her academic experience with The Ministry of Fisheries in New Zealand.
