I am a partner at K&L Gates, in the firm's White Collar Defense and Investigations Practice. I bring more than 20 years of expertise in securities, financial regulation, and corporate governance litigation, serving as a trusted advisor and strategist to corporate boards, C-suite teams, and business leaders for financial institutions and public companies on regulatory enforcement investigations and examinations, as well as internal investigations. My clients include broker-dealers, investment advisers, hedge funds, mutual funds, securities issuers and reporting companies, commodities traders, and those providing services to those businesses. Prior to joining K&L Gates, I was a partner at Baker McKenzie, where I served as co-chair of that firm's North America Financial Regulation and Enforcement Practice and on the firm's Global Financial Services Regulatory and Global Financial Institutions Industry Group steering committees. Previously, I was a partner in the securities litigation and enforcement practice of Morgan Lewis LLP and as a partner in the global regulatory enforcement group of Reed Smith, both Am Law 100 firms. I also previously served as chief trial counsel at the US Securities and Exchange Commission's Philadelphia regional office, where I managed a team of lawyers handling a wide variety of enforcement matters and personally led high-profile and complex litigation matters for six states.Drawing on my experience leading an SEC regional office trial program, I provide practical and forward-looking guidance to clients, advising on diverse matters such as conflict of interest disclosures, sales practices concerns, insider trading/market abuse, financial reporting and accounting issues, securities offerings, investigations into complex and novel products and trading, and whistleblower concerns. I am best known for my ability to narrow the focus of an inquiry, get to the heart of an issue with precision, and efficiently manage complex matters. I often coordinate efforts on behalf of clients with ongoing criminal investigations, among multiple enforcement/regulatory activities, and with civil litigation, or with such potential proceedings in mind.
