My professional journey has taken me all over the world. With a BA in Theatre and Performance Art, I have been able to use my performance and artistic abilities to connect, teach, and impact several lives. My first official job was in my early twenties as a general manager and head teacher at a children’s theatre. It’s there that I found a passion for teaching and my skill at being able to lead a team. In its purest form teaching is just the ability to be able to communicate and bring the best out of people whether it’s students, customers, or employees. From there I pursued my desire to learn more and help others learn. I spent several years as an English as a second language teacher in South Korea and Japan. In my time being an ESL teacher, I learned about respect for a multitude of different cultural traditions. I learned how to adapt, and I learned how to communicate clearly even if the person I was speaking with did not share my mother tongue. I also experienced corporate life as my schools were continued education schools, and I was a salesperson in addition to being a teacher. I had monthly quotas of classes and materials that I sold to students. I feel like these skills have made me a strong employee and leader: flexible, creative, and patient. After Covid, I stopped teaching and found a job at a logistics company, where I found my ability to communicate clearly and organization transitioned easily into other fields. I’ve been able to help the business grow by increasing the overall revenue and by managing and training new team members.
