I worked within the design team in The HOYTS Group head office designing across their B2B and B2C offerings.I worked closely with the General Manager of Marketing, the Social Marketing team and the Corporate Solutions team to develop design solutions across a broad range of end uses.From cinema screenings, new product offerings, new cinema openings and new brands, the daily workload was not only challenging but timings were tight and attention to detail was critical.During my time at HOYTS, I was also a part of developing a new structure within the design department, hiring staff, developing new internal online systems and leading the design team of 4 designers and 2 video editors.

I was the sole designer within the Val Morgan Cinema Group working predominantly on their B2B network.Crossing over both Val Morgan and Val Morgan Outdoor (VMO), I worked one on one with each internal stakeholder to provide an array of design solutions across print and web end uses.Being the sole designer within the structure, I was in control of all design jobs, deadlines and expected outcomes along with liaising between staff members at every level within the company.A new logo, new colour palette and branding to align their company values was an important step forward for the company.

Owning and running a boutique design studio taught me everything about customer service along with staff and client management.Overseeing the runnings of a small business on a daily basis is challenging but extremely rewarding. Being able to work closely with clients and direct staff members to ensure the process is smooth, the content accurate and the turnaround speedy is consistently satisfying. Working with a business partner who aligned on values and always supported decision making was also important. At Vanilla Spin we grew from a small two person show to a team of professionals including 1 Studio Manager, 2 Account Managers, 5 Designers and 1 IT Support within 8 years. Working alongside a dedicated group of individuals made my job even more varied having to deal with not only client situations but staffing concerns and ongoing admin and accounts.Our client base expanded into the media & entertainment world, IT sector and travel industries along with varied work from print brokers and suppliers as well. Our point of difference within the market was not only our creative offering but speed, accuracy and attention to detail.Closing the doors on what was a fantastic time within my career to have children and focus on my own growth was emotional but necessary.Vanilla Spin developed the creative seed within me and I continue to grow from this today.

I grew from Junior Designer to Creative Team Leader within 2 years at this boutique publishing company in North Sydney.Being in the publishing industry, I worked on a number of publications including the Small Business magazine, Australian Home & Giving (AGHA) gift fair magazine, Weight Watchers program booklets and advertising along with an array of long format annual reports and prospectus’.Attenion to detail was critical in ensuring every aspect of a document was correct before print. Colour correction and photo retouching were all a part of the process. I was also exposed to photo shoot styling for both Weight Watchers and AGHA.During my time at Loyalty Publishing I cemented the base of my design skills, climbing the ladder to learn how to lead a team of 3 Designers and 1 Junior Designer. This gave me the confidence to venture out on my own.
