About Amy Jordan

Amy Jordan serves as the Director of Business Development at Hampton Roads Transit. She also serves as the Executive Director of goCommute, the Hampton Roads region’s TDM program. Previously she was the Vice President of Business Development for the Hampton Roads Alliance where she developed the framework for a new regional Business Retention & Expansion program (BRE) effort. In addition to business expansion strategies, she also strategically pursued attraction opportunities in targeted sectors working closely with many regional assets such as Huntington Ingalls Industries, NASA Langley, Jefferson Lab and several DOD installations. Prior to the Alliance, she lead the Office of Economic Development for James City County, VA, which is part of the Greater Williamsburg region where she oversaw all aspects of development for the county including industrial, mixed use, office, hospitality and retail, along with the county's tourism efforts. Prior to joining James City County, she served as Hampton's Redevelopment Manager, administering the coordination of public and private investment in strategic areas of the City. Mrs. Jordan also worked in the Planning Departments of the cities of Suffolk, VA and Newport News, VA and holds direct experience in both current and long range planning, redevelopment and preservation strategies. Mrs. Jordan was recognized in 2006 by the Daily Press in “10 Under 30,” one of ten leading young business women under the age of thirty on the Virginia Peninsula, and in 2013, as Inside Business's Top 40 under 40, as a result of her accomplishment in economic development and redevelopment in the Hampton Roads region. Mrs. Jordan is currently involved in several workforce initiatives and serves as a member of the Tidewater Community College Workforce Advisory Committee and as an inaugural member of Hampton University's Virginia Workforce Innovation & Entrepreneurship Center Advisory Committee. She is a member of the Virginia Peninsula LEAD class of 2021 and is honored to serve as an Ex-Officio member of the Virginia Peninsula Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
