My role also encompasses mentoring individuals on other teams to drive engineering excellence throughout the organization. I provide remote leadership to teams in Cluj, Romania, and collaborate with mobile development teams across the world.► Released completely redesigned and reengineered Garmin Express for PC and Mac. Praised as most non-event release in history of Garmin Express, meaning smooth, well-received, and posed no interruption to the business.► Built Garmin Connect Mobile application for Windows Phone in just 6 months; assumed control over project after 3rd party contractor stalled. Replicated functionality from flagship application on Android and iOS for Windows.► Developed vivofit jr. app for Android and iOS in new strategic partnership with Disney. Re-architected app already in R&D to render it highly-robust and stable. Built infrastructure to support multiple Disney-branded adventures.► Ensured applications were equipped with capability to determine if users were located in China, then have those users access China cata center instead of worldwide data center. Partnered with Taiwan team to develop Firebase service for China, and shared solution with other Garmin app teams.► Established and led Mobile Core Team, a Center of Excellence providing mobile libraries to service portfolio of apps across Garmin, creating efficiency and consistency, and optimizing Garmin brand value.

I established this firm, specializing in enterprise-level IT solution development and consulting, primarily for small and mid-sized clients across multiple industries, to develop technology solutions that would provide competitive advantage and support organizational growth. The portfolio of services included project management, web site development, custom application development, and Lotus Notes programming. I steered new business development, engagement management, services delivery, and client support. I recruited and directed an 11-member remote team. ► Developed $250K digital asset management system for media firm housing 15 years of videos, CDs, tapes, and photographs, to search for, identify, locate, and leverage those assets for advertising, promotions, and tributes.► Managed development of video management system and app to catalogue dashcam video for law enforcement. System complied with chain of custody requirements. Directed 7-member team on this project, generating $300K in revenue.► Deployed $250K development center system for local municipality to track and manage development projects, including planning, zoning, fees, permits, inspections, licenses, and occupancy.► Conceptualized and implemented $80K cash management tool for investment company, which imported bank data daily and provided actual and projected information in visual dashboard so leadership could maximize profitability.

I advanced to this role to provide key leadership over the Customer Profile project, an initiative within the larger Customer Loyalty program. Profiling encompassed introducing web services to identify authoritative data sources, then compile and manage data across multiple data stores, to provide real-time visibility into customer demographics and touch points. We leveraged data to optimize existing customer relationships, promote retention, and drive maximum customer value.► Won American Century’s Guiding Principles Award for “Challenging & Inspiring,” recognizing extensive research and architecture planning for Customer Profile project.► Defined new product development methodology incorporating internal client management, formal action sessions, concept visualization meetings, and prototyping, key to reducing risk and slashing expenses.

I was designated to lead development of the groundbreaking Fund Advisor web portal, the 1st tool of its kind made readily available to customers. Fund Advisor was the core product of a new venture, Acumation, formed when American Century acquired another entity. I led a high-performance software engineering team building a well-defined, layered application architecture, and utilized ASP, XML and J2EE technologies. I also managed teams of consultants on and off-site. Additionally, I structured a partnership with an offshore vendor for coding and testing, to speed delivery of the product to market. ► Fund Advisor received the Excellence in Shareholder Communications Award from the Mutual Fund Education Alliance, for web site ease of use, Monte Carlo Simulation tools, and utility in guiding users in retirement planning. ► Introduced RUP to guide development as the team matured to higher levels in the CMM. ► Introduced IBM’s Visual Age for Java to development environment, to enhance control and promote collaboration. ► Created and integrated competency-based assessment and professional development model for technical team.

In this role, I directed the redesign of the American Century consumer web site, and led site migration to the Digex web hosting facility, which required hiring the software engineering team, defining policies and procedures governing the Digex relationship, delineating SLAs, and orchestrating implementation. ► Recommended bleeding edge ideas of site personalization, as well as new technologies including IBM WebSphere, Java and JSPs to support personalization and dynamic content. ► Orchestrated design and implementation of custom content management system (CMS), pre-dating commoditization of such tools. CMS empowered non-technical users to maintain site with no IT support. IBM sought to acquire the tool.

At this time, I championed the enterprise-wide implementation of Lotus Notes and infrastructure to support it. That involved articulating the business case, cost/benefit analysis, NPV, and current and future state assessments to the Executive Board. Additionally, I directed a cross-functional team on the execution and delivery in half the projected time. I garnered the IT Department’s Guiding Principles Award for Innovation.

I participated on the Rapid Application Development Team, innovating and implementing specialized, high-quality, stand-alone PC applications requested by internal business clients, including the Agent Renewal Tracking System, Company Stock Certificate system, and Verification of Deposit application.
