Amy brings 35+ years of experience in child and family support programs and services. She obtained her Master of Science in Child Development degree from the Erikson Institute in Chicago. A lifelong learner, she completed a postgraduate fellowship in Early Relational Health at the University of Massachusetts/Boston. She is a certified Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health consultant in Illinois, trained in the Baby Talk model of care and also trained at the Brazelton Touchpoints Center, part of the Division of Developmental Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital. She has participated in the training and utilizes Theraplay techniques with children and families. She co-founded the Maryville Crisis Nursery, the first 24/7 continuum of services for families in the Chicagoland area for children 6 and under. Amy has successfully worked with children and their parents from a variety of backgrounds, including children in group homes, foster care, exposure to domestic violence and community violence. She has worked extensively with children and their families impacted by abuse, neglect, issues of abandonment and the traumatic separation from family as well as a broad range of emotional and behavioral problems. She is passionate about helping children and their caregivers find hope and strength to persevere and heal together to form stronger relationships.
