A laboratory technician level 2 and previous OSH representative. In Apr 2022, I moved into a casual role in order to focus on my education. My responsibilities include the processing of all patient samples from receipt to shipment in early and late phase clinical trials. This extends to providing quality control for clinic and other laboratory staff, ensuring accuracy in sample documentation, and adherence to correct processing procedures. Additionally, I have experience writing and reviewing clinical trial protocols and laboratory manuals, and personally place a large focus on patient communication - ensuring their understanding of study protocols and expectations. This includes the creation of patient-facing study guidelines.As a laboratory technician, I am the point of contact for the project delivery team and clinical staff, including nurses and research physicians, providing support, insight, and assistance in the overall delivery of laboratory function. I have been responsible for the training of new staff, as well as the creation of study-specific protocols via the effective communication with pharmaceutical companies and local pathology laboratories. To date, I have had major roles in eight early and late phase trials, delivering projects on the treatment of: solid tumours; asthma; pain; SARS-COV-2; dermatitis, tissue scars; diabetes; vertigo.As the laboratory OHS representative for my unit, I was, and continue to be, committed to working with management to create and maintain safe and healthy working environments. I have experience coordinating with representatives of other departments in the development and implementation of new safety precautions for COVID-19, and created and distributed company-wide surveys with the aim of creating positive changes.

My role was to conduct research experiments, provide support to other researchers, as well as supervise the training of local and international students from England and China. My research included performing a variety of imaging techniques in breast cancer cell lines pre- and post-treatment with novel anti-cancer strategies, as part of an international collaboration with the Universities of Arizona and Cambridge. I also had major roles in the following:• Pre-clinical trials utilising rat models for neurotrauma. • Maintenance of a variety of breast cancer cell lines and primary cells.• Developed experience in next generation sequencing, preparing DNA samples for illumina sequencing via ATAC, G4-ChIP as well as RNA samples for RNA seq.• Responsibility for teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students techniques in molecular biology• Responsibility for writing SOPs and the regular equipment maintenance and stocktake and ordering of laboratory consumables.• Cell imaging for in vitro characterisation of nuclear foci using image analysis programs such as NIS-elements and ImageJ

I performed a range of cell imaging experiments focusing on variations in breast cancer cell nuclei structures pre- and post- therapeutic intervention. This research was performed in collaboration with the Garvan Institute for Medical Research based in Sydney where I had the opportunity to travel and cultivate relationships with national collaborators.
