I have taught, advised, and mentored nursing students at Creighton University for over 18 years. I then served as the Nursing Director/student recruiter, for the ILAC Program, for 3 years. I have had the opportunity to participate for 3 years in Creighton University’s Project Homeless Connect, a healthcare event. I have participated as a healthcare provider at numerous elementary schools and high schools, offering the students free Sports Physicals. I have collaborated with the Douglas County Health Department employees and many Creighton nursing students to screen for and disseminate information about: 1) how to avoid transmission of and 2) where to go to be anonymously screened for Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI), in Omaha, Nebraska. I have served as a healthcare provider at The Porto Clinic, in North Omaha, for 2 years. Most recently, I served as a healthcare provider and student mentor, at The Healing Gift Free Clinic in Midtown Omaha, for 2 years. I view myself as a life-long learner. Keeping appraised of current medical advances and remaining up-to-date with the continuing education requirements of my profession remain priorities for me as an APRN.
