I first began to work in Pharmacy in 2003, working as a Healthcare Counter Assistant. From this I upskilled to a Pharmacy Technician in 2005, completing 18 months of a two year Higher Certificate in Science: Pharmacy Technician Studies in Carlow Institute of Technology in 2006. I enjoyed working in Pharmacy so much that I decided to apply for a BSc (Pharm) in Trinity College Dublin in 2006 as a mature student. I had previously studied Biochem in University College Cork, receiving a BSc in Anatomy & Neuroscience in 2003. I completed my MPharm in 2011 from the Royal College of Surgeons (RCSI). Leading up to this point I had spent every free moment working in a pharmacy setting, be it small independent to giant chain to even hospital pharmacy. In November 2014 I was promoted to Supervising Pharmacist and therefore took over full responsibility of the everyday running of the pharmacy. After nearly a decade of working as a supervising pharmacist, I am now currently working as a part-time locum pharmacist in community pharmacy post maternity leave.I have thoroughly enjoyed my arduous but worthwhile journey into Pharmacy and though I can now officially place the initials MPSI after my name I haven’t yet completed my up skilling, determined to continue on both my personal and professional development as a Pharmacist. As a result I have stepped up to become a Tutor Pharmacist in recent years.I have completed a 2 year Diploma in Pharmacy Leadership and Management through the IPU and ILM. I have also completed a Fetac Level 6 Train the Trainer Course and have trained fellow pharmacists in Flu Vaccination in conjunction with Hibernian Healthcare. I have also worked alongside Hibernian as a programme developer and reviewer of materials for pharmacist vaccination training such as pneumococcal and shingles, as well as emergency anaphylaxis training.
