I lead a team of editors who work across all of National Geographic’s core topic areas, assigning and editing stories primarily targeting audiences on Search and Social. I also managed the workflow that feeds Nat Geo’s weekly health editorial newsletter, establishing better collaboration and communication.

I wrote, assigned, and edited explainers across all of Nat Geo’s core topic areas—particularly focused on COVID-19 coverage and the 2020 presidential election. I was also the lead editor responsible for SEO-driven content, advising each of our content desks on best practices for search.

Established an editorial calendar and content strategy for the organization’s blog, while also serving as project manager overseeing the production schedule for the annual report. Covered programs on the ground, developed digital interactive stories, and contributed to the relaunch of worldlearning.org.

During my time working for Eater's flagship site, I led our features department -- producing everything from Q&As with up-and-coming chefs to in-depth features on topics like food allergies or the cost of culinary school. I also helped launch the site's existing longform features program; recruited freelancers from London to Hong Kong; attended conferences in Copenhagen, Mexico City, and beyond; and produced our first major video project with Vox Media.

Founding editor of Eater DC. I covered the local restaurant industry, including restaurant openings and closings, chef shuffles, and service-oriented stories listing the best restaurants in town. I hired and managed a team of freelance writers and photographers, hosted local events, and even collaborated with the local NPR affiliate on an interview series with embassy chefs.

I was a researcher in the Washington bureau of Japan's Mainichi Newspaper, assisting our correspondents in covering foreign affairs and U.S. politics.The Mainichi Newspapers, Inc. publishes a number of newspapers, periodicals and books in both print and electronic forms, with the daily newspaper, Mainichi Shimbun as its flagship publication. The 130-year old Mainichi Shimbun is Japan’s oldest national newspaper, and has a readership of more than four million subscribers. Its website at mdn.mainichi.jp receives more than 400 million hits per month, making it the most popular newspaper-run news website in Japan. The Mainichi’s reports have won numerous prestigious journalism awards, including a Pulitzer prize and 20 Japan Newspaper Publisher and Editors Association Awards. The paper has an extensive reporting network with more than 100 domestic and 26 overseas bureaus, providing its readers with up-to-the-minute developments in all corners of the world.

As an editorial intern at National Geographic Traveler magazine, I was a fact-checker as well as a contributor to the blog.

I worked in the press office of the U.S. Mission to NATO in Brussels, Belgium. My main duty was to monitor the news and send reports back to Washington on global public opinion, but I also designed a program for a group of visiting young French politicians to help them understand the U.S. perspective of the NATO mission.

I covered a variety of local issues for the Virginia edition, including asbestos in the schools, gang violence, health care issues and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.
