I remember watching a documentary about a baby in a psychology course I took during my first year in college. Within only ten minutes of being born, the baby could mirror his dad, who was sticking out his tongue. I was instantly intrigued. In only ten minutes, a baby could do that. I remember imagining what that child could do growing up and how his surroundings shaped his growth (his father showering him with love). It was so fascinating to me, and at that moment, I knew I was determined to contribute to healthy human development and ensure that we live in a world with humane, growth-producing systems. This passion led to a career in the nonprofit sector. I am inspired by the fierce commitment to advocacy and anti-racism of all those involved in nonprofit work. Organizations that I am most inspired by not only provide comprehensive services for children, their families, and their communities, but they also support education that affects change in our larger community.
