Instructional leader of K-5 elementary school serving 700 students and their families. 92% poverty, 53% African American, 40% Latino student population identified as one of the lowest-performing schools in the largest school district in SC. Tripled percent of students meeting and exceeding state performance levels in all subgroups in 2 years in both reading and math. Moved the school from meeting 7 out of 29 AYP targets to 28 of 29 targets. Recognized for highest percentage of students meeting annual growth targets of all Title I schools in the District in 2008 and 2009.

Instructional leader of K-6 elementary school serving 600 students and their families in Charleston, SC99% poverty, 18% Latino, 71% African American student population. Performance rating of Unsatisfactory (2002), identified as 79th of 80 schools for percent of students meeting growth targets. Moved the school to21of 80 in 2003, 7th of 80 in 2004, and number 1 of 80 in 2005-07. Met AYP every year from 2004-07 (13 of 13 objectives). School continues to make AYP. Implemented innovative Learning Community and Team Differentiation approach to significantly overhaul instructional practice. More than 500 schools and systems from across the country, including Chicago Public Schools, visited the school and used our resources.
