I am a recent graduate of Hope College in Holland, MI, where I earned a B. A. in Biology and a minor in Ministry. During my time at Hope, I was a participant in the Nykerk Song Competition, an active member of the Delta Phi sorority where I served as Chaplain and as Greek Orientation Director, a committee member of Hope's branch of the national It's On Us campaign, and a member of the Alcor Chapter of the National Mortar Board. My experience at Hope and studying abroad in Perth, Australia has shaped my direction towards a seminary degree. I will begin working on my Master of Arts in Counseling in 2015 with a specialty in Christian Trauma Counseling. This will lead me into a career of counseling survivors of sexual assault, abuse, or trauma from a theological perspective. At Hope, I have also been developing a new program at Hope called Worthy. This is a program to provide spiritual support for on-campus survivors of sexual abuse, violence, or trauma through peer relationships. Pending development during the summer of 2015, this program will hopefully be piloted during the 2015-16 school year through Hope's Campus Ministries Office.
