I teach Latin to 8th-10th graders using the reading/natural method in the Oerberg Lingua Latina text complemented by explicit grammar instruction, enriched with elements of spoken and sung Latin. I am also working with the administration team to establish procedure for students new to the school with varying levels of expertise and the high school curriculum plan, including an honors Latin track. In the '23-'24 school year, I developed a Latin IV honors course for juniors titled "Latin with the Founders", which explores the ideas that inspired America's foundational values found in Cicero's De Officiis and De Republica, Seneca's Epistulae Morales, Vergil's Aeneid, and Livy's History of Rome. For the '24-'25 school year, I will be developing a Latin III honors course for sophomores covering the major genres (Poetry, Philosophy (in poetry and prose), Rhetoric, and History). This course will aim to improve the students' reading abilities in authentic Latin while discussing how these different genres convey truth.

Corpus Christi, Texas Area

Collaborated with a small, tight-knit staff to educate and train young men and women to be well-rounded, Christian humans. I primarily taught 7th-10th grade Latin and History (Ancient and Medieval). Experience of the Google suite of apps, Zoom, and Loom as explored during the 2020 corona virus remote schooling period will be integrated alongside more traditional classroom techniques. Latin and History are used to develop diligence in study habits, skill in expressing themselves orally and in writing, and critical thinking through logical understanding of language and document analysis.Other classes taught: Elementary Latin (4th-6th grades), Art History Survey Elective, Introduction to Rhetoric.

I worked intensively in learning the pottery of Hirpinia at the Aeclanum site, processing finds from across the site. I and the others of the pottery staff learned to identify forms across pottery classes, and I received further instruction on pottery drawing. Additionally, we took inventories of the material amassed in the previous season and reorganized storerooms.For the final two weeks of the summer, I returned to the Suburban baths project to assist with pottery drawings and photography and training new participants. I have returned to supervise pottery field work participants in the summers of 2018 and 2019 as well.

Tallahassee, Florida Area

While pursing my MA, I served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for the first two semesters, in which I observed class activities from the perspective of the instructor and gained experience grading written work. In both Fall 2016 and Spring 2017, I have been solely responsible for one section of the Classics' department's multi-focal Roman Civilization class, "Debates about the Past: Roman Civilization, History, and Culture." This class explores Roman history, literature, and rhetoric, and the students engage with primary and secondary sources in both public speaking and written assignments.For my thesis, I wrote about the colonists of Pompeii using geographically located electoral inscriptions and historical sources.

June: began work on the new site of ancient Aeclanum at Passo di Mirabella, Italy by re-uncovering part of the bath complex's pool and documenting it through photography and manual drawing of difficult collapses of building material, including significant quantities of marble sheathing. Assisted trench supervisor with training new participants, particularly with drawing. July: continued work on the material at the Suburban Baths at Pompeii, Italy. Assisted with supervision of new participants as they learned to clean, sort, and register pottery finds, and gained significant experience drawing pottery for publication.

Austin, Texas Area

Worked as part of a tightly-knit team filling and rolling burritos and serving other food items such as tacos, nachos, and burrito bowls. In addition to working on the line serving customers and closing the line area, I worked the grill, grilling and chopping meats in anticipation of the dinner rush and the end of the night, and regularly shut it down for the night and cleaned it. During my time at Freebirds, the company transitioned from a follow-down service model to a pass-down one, in which employees have stations and are responsible for just one component, whether it is warming the tortilla/starting the items; adding beans, rice, and a protein; adding fresh veggies and sauces; rolling it up; grabbing the sides of chips and dip; or ensuring everyone gets their items at the cash register. Communication was crucial and I learned to work hard to keep items moving smoothly by being proactive. When on the line, I worked as roller/finisher, wrapping up and placing burritos in baskets (or bagging things to-go), while also taking care of the sides of chips and dip and communicating to the register position what was ordered. It was a challenge to implement the change, but with everyone up to speed and working well, we proved to be a much more efficient team.

June: gained experience at the bathhouse site in Pollena Trocchia, Italy with various archaeological methodologies: stratigraphic excavation; archaeological photographic practices; methods of cleaning finds; and the registration of pottery, bone, metal, and fresco finds.July: worked with material from the Suburban Baths in Pompeii, Italy: inventoried unstudied material, cleaned material (primarily ceramics), registered the finds, and learned to draw ceramic finds for publication.

Cedar Park, Texas

Actively contributed during the peak period shifts while I built up the skills to fill the different positions on the floor: from making drinks and warming food items to serving customers warmly but efficiently at both the register and the drive-thru window as well as being equally adept at fulfilling the customer support role. Learned to anticipate needs and prevent problems both for our guests and working as a team, while keeping a fun environment during some busy shifts.

Facilitated the summer-long family programs, the WorkLAB Satellites in particular, which were stations within the gallery building where all ages could connect with art by creating rather than just viewing. I engaged with guests and at the Satellites myself, and oriented volunteers to do the same. Following the end of the summer programs I also assisted Martha Bradshaw with data entry, records auditing, and standardizing volunteer records in the museum's Altru database.

Assisted Emily Cayton, Associate Educator for Teachers and Docents, in preparing background research documents for the docents about the fall 2014 exhibitions: a Do Ho Suh solo exhibition and the installation of White Snow #3 by Paul McCarthy. For these documents, I compiled links to relevant websites, synthesized biographies, and summarized other related artists' careers and related art movements, which created a comprehensive picture of the context of the works on display within the artist's oeuvre and contemporary art. This allowed the docents to cogently tailor each tour for its audience.

Evansville, Indiana Area

Resumed the position held two years ago as the Photo Editor of the LinC yearbook. Worked with the Editor in Chief to provide accurate photojournalism to accompany the stories, wrote captions for my photos, and was responsible for training and supervising the junior photographers to do the same. Learned to plan ahead to lead photo assignment meetings more effectively with a larger staff than I had held before. Practiced hands-on training with my photographers while learning how to perceptively evaluate their work to help them improve, including reviewing their photographs regularly with them.Our yearbook for the 2013-2014 year was awarded a Pacemaker, a national award, in Fall 2015.

Provided weekly tutoring sessions for students in the lower levels of Ancient Greek in the fall, and I provided sessions for both Latin and Ancient Greek in the spring.I give additional practice for students and helped the students who attended clarify their understanding of course concepts, such as the sequence of verb tenses and the application of noun cases.
