Dr. Amy Fox works at the intersection of cognitive, information, and learning sciences, exploring how humans create and employ tools for thinking. These cognitive technologies range from stunning interactive visualizations of data, simple charts and graphs, diagrams, systems of notation, to even the text on this screen. Dr. Fox is a mixed methods researcher, committed to employing both quantitative and qualitative approaches to solving research problems. In short—her work asks how what we know about human cognition should inform the design of cognitive tools, and how studying their everyday use helps us learn about human cognition.
