Direct programs and operations at multiple recreation facilities.

I managed group fitness programs and special events. The new recreation & fitness center opened January 2019. I collaborated with campus partners to ensure student needs were met in innovative ways, plus served as a consultant for the campus employee wellness initiative. I enjoyed mentoring students in their development as fitness and wellness professionals.

I managed our fitness and wellness programs, including personal training, group fitness classes, health coaching and wellness educational seminars. I assisted with facility operations, reports, budgets, inventory, equipment maintenance, advertising, webpage content, and special events.

As founding Director of the new center, I coordinated the inaugural operating policies and procedures, developed programs, and monitored all operations. The RAWC team offered personal training, group fitness classes, wellness seminars, intramurals, aquatics, and informal recreation. One of my favorite aspects was connecting with people, members and students, as I served as liaison to other campus departments and the local community.

I served on a one-year contract as an active faculty member teaching program courses to division majors (“Introduction to Kinesiology Studies,” “Legal Aspects for Leisure and Fitness Professionals,” and “Group Dynamics”). I also taught department course for general student population (“Healthy Life Skills”) and participated on departmental committees and task forces.

My time at Lane Community College started as a part-time instructor, then grew into the Interim Program Coordinator position, and blossomed as the permanent Coordinator/Director of the Fitness Education Center and Professional Fitness Training Program. While there I directed operation and programs of the instructional fitness facility which allowed me to connect with students, faulty, staff, and community members. I supervised our employee team and oversaw our student intern program. I was responsible for writing grant proposals, budget recommendations, usage reports, and promotional material, and allocated and tracked budget expenditures and grant monies.

I coordinated all aspects of the varsity volleyball program including budget, equipment, recruiting, scheduling, travel planning, practices, and matches. I hired and scheduled staff, officials, and scorekeepers. As a faculty member, I taught division and activity courses (“Foundations of Physical Education,” “Fundamentals of Movement Activities,” “Beginning Tennis,” “Weight Lifting”).

As one of two Senior Financial Aid Counselors at the university, I counseled students and parents regarding financial options and scholarships. I helped coordinate Admissions and Financial Aid seminars for students and parents. I advised student-athletes regarding academics and student aid budgets, and facilitated communication with faculty departments, business office, public relations department, and development office.

As part of an exchange program between OBU and Xinjiang University, I served as Professor of English in the Foreign Language Department, arranged for OBU group travel and schedule, and coordinated the summer program recreational activities.

As head coach I coordinated all aspects of the varsity volleyball and softball programs. As a faculty member, I taught program courses to HPER majors (“Psychology of Coaching,” “Sociology of Sport,” “Motor Learning,” “Techniques of Elementary Physical Education”) and various activity courses. I also connected with students as a HPER program academic adviser.
