As a scientist in MDA's Systems Engineering department, I work at the interface between industry, academia and government. I work to foster partnerships and use my scientific background to guide technology development and mission concept development.

Project Experience: Support for multiple international missions:- tactical and strategic support- software development for data visualization, processing, analysis, archival- map production using ArcGIS to incorporate multiple data sources- production and evaluation of statistics on several data sets using ENVI and IDL- determination of soil friction and cohesion properties at landing site- data management- modeling surface scatter properties and creating rasters of derived parametersRoles:NASA OSIRIS-REx Mission Team Member- leadership role in requirement development and testing of goniometer instrumentation for measuring BRDF (bidirectional reflectance distribution function)- used IDL programming language to calculate reflectance of material samples- discovered trends in BRDF of Spectralon (common reflectance measurement calibration standard in use for decades)- built optical assemblies for calibration of LIDAR system- presented at conferences and meetings in Canada, US and EuropeDeputy Project Manager, Science Definition Study for a Raman Spectrometer- managed team of four scientists/analystsResearch Associate, York University- trained students in the use of optical and optomechanical componentsLecturer, York University
