Wetland TechnicianU.S. Geological Survey (Usgs) Sep 2011 - Dec 2013I am a contractor that collects and processes data for the research of green house gases and tile drainage sites in wetlands of the Prairie Pothole Region. I work both independently and with a small team, of which I supervise seasonal technicians. Field work includes working with automated sampling devices including 3 types of carbon flux analyzers, dissolved gas analyzer, gas chromatograph, water level loggers, soil moisture probes, soil temperature loggers, sondes, rain gauges, weather stations, conducting surveys and installing piezometers and wells. We conduct field work year round and in all conditions including winter sampling over ice/snow. I operate and transport equipment including boats, all terrain vehicles, snowmobiles and a soil corer. Other duties include creating and manipulating maps in ArcMap, training/instructing new employees, data entry, data analysis, particle density analysis, GC operation, and troubleshooting and repairing broken equipment. I am highly proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Access and Powerpoint. -
Research AssistantUniversity Of Wisconsin - Stevens Point Jun 2009 - Oct 2011Created a SWAT model for the DNR and conducted research on sediment phosphorus release in a eutrophic stream. Interpreted results of SWAT model and provided alternative scenarios to DNR, which included a TMDL. Proctored exams for advisor, assisted with lab classes and oversaw undergraduate assistant. Field work included taking water quality samples, flow measurements with FlowTracker, deploying a MS-5 Sonde, using transducers and downloading data from equipment. Lab work included processing samples to determine phosphorus on a spectrophotometer. I have also had experience using a Lachat, IC and OC analyzer. I created reports, posters and a thesis to document this research, statistics and convey interpretations of the data. -
