Utilizing my education and my prior career history, I started a business focused on delivering superb, individualized client care from diagnosis to intervention development. Looking at all the information, I developed my own best practices, matching services to individual clients. With this as a foundation, I then created care plans which solved client challenges through evidence-based interventions.In addition to client work, I have been requested as a speaker and presenter on relevant topics to school personnel and teachers. This benefited them in better understanding age-appropriate speech and language milestones. I also crafted supplemental strategies which enhanced regular treatment, proactively educating patients and their families. Watching how this resulted in greater progress through carry-over tactics was rewarding and humbling.At this stage, I’m eager to translate my business owner and client retention strategies back into an internal, established team environment.

In this position, my SLP expertise came into play as I reviewed clinical documents from therapists in order to ensure, among other things, compliance with insurance requirements. In this way, I could determine if initial clinical information met the standards of medical necessity criteria or if it needed additional review. From conducting the initial medical necessity review, I could notify physicians or service providers on pre-authorization decisions. I then evaluated to ensure treatment goals remained consistent with evaluation results and diagnosis to move forward with the initiation of services. This led to determinations of treatment appropriateness, making sure to use the appropriate policies while delivering the highest quality client care.
